Your race entry will help us plant trees in Kenya  – helping to combat climate change and reverse environmental destruction.

FAQs

WHAT IS A VIRTUAL RACE?

Our virtual Treeathlon is a month-long running event where you control the pace and distance. Run anywhere you like! Run your local routes, in the gym or around your garden, any distance covered will go towards your final total.  Tailor the distance and intensity to  whatever you feel comfortable completing.

WHY ENTER A VIRTUAL CHALLENGE?

Virtual challenges are the latest trend to hit the fitness world. The versatility of a virtual challenge has been appreciated all the way from those training for a grueling real world event to runners who aren’t quite ready to commit to a conventional race… and everyone in between! The Treeathlon can be done anywhere, and by anyone. Complete the challenge, submit your evidence and receive your award for planting 50 real world life giving trees.

DO YOU GIVE TO CHARITY?

Yes! We are partnered with the Eden Project to plant trees on behalf of our racers. More info can be found HERE.

DO I GET A MEDAL?

Yes, after your challenge month has ended we will send you one of our zero waste UK natural slate medals to commemorate your participation in the Treeathlon. These act as a souvenir and reminder of the 50 real trees that have been planted thanks to you.

HOW DO I SUBMIT EVIDENCE?

You will need to ubmit your results via the RaceNation app or manually.  Follow the instructions and link emailed to you for full details on how to do this.

We will verify your distances and submit to our monthly leaderboards. Results will be published live.

Runs must be complited and evidence submitted before 23:59 on October 31st.

WHERE WILL THE PROFITS GO?

Currently Treeathlon is partnered with the Eden Projects reforestation activities to plant our trees around Africa. We hope to one day set up our own projects where we can provide living wage employment and livelihoods for people around the world.

CAN ANYONE ENTER THE TREEATHLON?

Given that you determine the intensity of your Treeathlon, all levels of runner can participate. Regardless of how far you decide to run, or if you fail to meet your goal. We will still plant your 50 trees and send you our Zero Waste medal to commemorate your contribution to the fight for the planet.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO COMPLETE AN EVENT?

Evidence submission will be available all month, with a few days added onto the end to get your final screenshots submitted.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I GET INJURED?

If you are unlucky enough to pick up an injury during your challenge month, then we will still record your distance up to that date, and your 50 trees and medal will still be honoured and sent out, there is no way to fail your event.

WHAT ARE THE ENTRY PRICES?

Current entry prices can be found here.

HOW IS THE EVIDENCE VERIFIED?
  • We are able to import your running data from most of the popular running apps (Strava, Garmin Connect, MapMyRun etc) and in cases where the distance is not automatically identified we will take a look ourselves and verify the distances.
  • Of course we understand there is opportunity for people to… inflate their submissions or cheat the distance. But even these cheaters have still planted 50 more trees and helped us get closer to our goal! Really they are only cheating themselves! If we see evidence of clear cheating then those profiles will be removed from the monthly leaderboards.
